How SumSpark works

Build faster mental math one round at a time

SumSpark is a free browser-based mental math game that starts simple, adds new skills at clear milestones, and rewards steady practice without requiring an account.

One worldwide Daily Challenge

Every UTC day brings the same deterministic 30-problem sequence to every player. Your first result is the official daily score, while replays can improve your device-based personal best.

Addition and subtraction from round 1

Every run begins with approachable addition and subtraction problems so you can warm up, find a rhythm, and build an early streak.

Multiplication at round 5, division at round 10

Multiplication joins the mix beginning at round 5. Exact division problems begin at round 10, expanding the challenge without introducing awkward decimals.

Negative numbers and shorter timers

Negative numbers appear beginning at round 20. The regular-round timer becomes one second shorter every 10 rounds and never drops below three seconds.

Daily streaks and trophies

Finish a ranked run to grow your daily streak. Along the way, tiered trophies recognize score milestones, fast answers, special-event wins, and long-term play.

Special events with different goals

Second Chance gives you 10 seconds to recover a lost life. Equation Forge gives you 15 seconds to build a creative equation, with more complex math earning more points.

Frequently asked questions

SumSpark FAQ

Is SumSpark free to play?

Yes. SumSpark is a free mental math game that runs in your web browser.

Do I need to create an account?

No. You can play immediately. A device-based profile preserves progress, and you only choose a display name if you want to join the leaderboard.

Which math skills does SumSpark practice?

The game practices addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, negative numbers, number sense, and quick equation building.

How does the game become more difficult?

New operations arrive at rounds 5, 10, and 20. Number ranges grow gradually, while the regular timer decreases by one second every 10 rounds to a three-second minimum.

What happens when I miss a problem?

A wrong answer or regular-round timeout costs one of three lives and resets your answer streak. A run ends after all three lives are gone.

Can I use SumSpark as a normal calculator?

Yes. Open Math Workbench from the Tools menu for addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and decimals.

How does the Daily Challenge work?

Everyone receives the same 30 questions for the UTC date. Your first completed attempt is official on the daily leaderboard, and later replays only update your personal replay best.
